Why does the ScoutIQ app say “Network Failure. Please check your connection.”?

An explanation of the error “Network Failure. Please check your connection.”

The Network Failure message appears when ScoutIQ can’t reach Amazon’s servers due to a lack of internet connection.

This can happen in:

  • Live Only mode: The app relies entirely on a real-time connection to Amazon.

  • Database + Live mode: A live lookup is triggered when a book isn’t found in the local database, but the app can’t connect online.

In both cases, this usually means your internet connection dropped or is too weak to complete the lookup.


Make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data.

If scanning in a low-signal area, consider switching to Database Only mode to scan offline.
