Navigating the ScoutIQ 2 Beta

An instructional overview of the ScoutIQ 2 app, currently in the Beta development stage.

Updated over a week ago

The ScoutIQ 2 (Beta) app introduces a newly designed interface and upgraded tools for more efficient product scouting. This guide offers a straightforward, educational walkthrough of the app’s current features. If you’re new to ScoutIQ or transitioning from the original version, this will help you navigate the updated experience.

Note: ScoutIQ 2 is only available for use by Seller 365 customers. Don’t have a Seller 365 account? Register here or convert your subscription to Seller 365 here.

In-App Education: Initial Walkthrough

When you first launch ScoutIQ 2, the app walks you through basic setup steps:

  • Account Connection: Log into your ScoutIQ account and connect your Amazon Seller account directly through the app.

  • Permissions: Grant necessary permissions (camera, notifications, etc.) to enable full functionality.

  • Basic Feature Overview: Short in-app prompts explain key features such as scanning methods and trigger settings.

These walkthroughs are designed to help new users get started with minimal confusion.

The Scan Screen: Your Primary Scouting Interface

Once setup is complete, the app defaults to the Scan tab, which is the primary interface for evaluating products. ScoutIQ 2 supports multiple scanning methods:

Available Scanning Modes & Methods

Standard Mode

  • Camera Barcode/ISBN Scan: Use your phone’s camera to scan product barcodes or ISBNs.

  • Camera Title Scan: Use your phone's camera to scan a book's Title Page.

  • Manual Entry: Manually type a Barcode, ISBN, or Book Title with the in-app keyboard.

Beta Note:

During this Beta phase, Bluetooth scanner compatibility is not yet available, so sellers who rely on that feature may wish to use the original ScoutIQ app alongside this one.

Speed Mode

Speed Mode offers a summary of the most critical metrics for an item at the top of the screen and allows fast on-shelf scanning without tapping the scan button between items.

Speed Mode Rewind: While in Speed Mode, you can now view a log of all items scanned during that session without interrupting workflow.

Scan Screen Enhancements

  • eScore Visualization: A color-coded progress bar shows where a product’s eScore falls in the overall range.

  • Sales Rank Percentile: Instead of just a raw rank number, ScoutIQ 2 displays the product’s percentile within its category.

  • Offer-Based Analysis: We now display the total number of offers on a product, along with a visual indicator of competition.

Home Tab: Sourcing Metrics and History

The Home tab offers insights into your recent scouting activity:

  • Custom Date Filtering: Select any date range to view metrics.

  • Accepted Scans: See how many items were marked as profitable.

  • Performance Indicators: Quickly analyze your sourcing results.

Settings Tab

The Settings tab allows configuration of key features:

  • Amazon Account Connection in-app

  • App Controls

  • Database download

    • Scanning Mode Settings

      • Offline Only

        • Lightning-fast scans using locally stored data. Will not have the most up-to-date live info.

        • Perfect for low-signal areas or saving on data usage.

      • Offline + Live

        • The best of both worlds.

        • Starts with local data, then fills in the gaps with live lookups when online.

      • Live Only

        • Always up-to-date with Amazon’s latest info.

        • Requires a solid internet connection and may be slightly slower.

      Fall Back Pricing

ScoutIQ 2 lets you control how the app responds when pricing data isn’t available or no offers exist for an item. You have the option to Always Accept or Always Reject these items, or set a Default Price you would like to use for profit analysis in these cases.

Hidden Mode Enhancements

Hidden Mode hides pricing data from team members while allowing them to scout:

  • Buy Cost Entry: Team members can now enter actual buy costs within Hidden Mode.

  • Accurate ROI: ROI calculations reflect true costs without revealing full pricing info.

ScoutIQ 2 (Beta) is currently available to Seller 365 customers. As this version evolves, additional features and category support will be added. This guide will be updated accordingly.
