What is ScoutIQ?

Understand what ScoutIQ can do, and what it's used for.

ScoutIQ is a mobile sourcing app designed to help Amazon sellers quickly decide whether a book or media item is worth buying for resale.

When you scan an item, ScoutIQ analyzes key information such as estimated profit, Amazon fees, current offers, sales history, and expected sales velocity. It then uses ScoutIQ's Smart Triggers to give you a clear sourcing recommendation:

  • Green: Accept means the item meets your selected profitability and sales criteria.

  • Red: Reject means the item does not currently meet those criteria.

  • Orange: Restricted alerts you when an item may be profitable, but your connected Amazon account is not currently approved to sell it.

ScoutIQ is especially designed for sourcing in Amazon's BMVD category: books, music, videos, DVDs, CDs, and video games, making it useful for sellers sourcing inventory at thrift stores, library sales, estate sales, yard sales, and similar locations.

Rather than requiring you to evaluate every data point from scratch, ScoutIQ brings the information together to help you answer the question that matters while sourcing:

Is this item worth buying?

ScoutIQ also provides more detailed information when you want to dig deeper, including eScore, Sales Rank, competing offers, estimated profit, a Buy List for easy listing and customizable Triggers. This gives newer sellers a straightforward starting point while allowing experienced sellers to adjust their sourcing strategy as their business grows.
