Connecting ScoutIQ to Amazon

A detailed explanation and visual walkthrough of the process of pairing the ScoutIQ app with your Amazon Pro-Seller Account.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Pairing ScoutIQ or ScoutIQ 2 with your Amazon Professional Seller account takes about 3 minutes. Once connected, ScoutIQ can display personalized restriction checks so you can identify gated items and make informed purchasing decisions before you buy.

Restriction checks show whether Amazon has restricted you from selling a specific item and whether approval is required.

Pairing from the Threecolts Hub (Web)

This is the primary pairing method.

  • Required for ScoutIQ

  • Also works for ScoutIQ 2

  • Must be completed from a desktop or laptop

Follow the interactive walkthrough below to pair your Amazon account from the Threecolts Hub.

Amazon Account Requirements

ScoutIQ can only connect to Amazon Professional Seller accounts. This limitation is set by Amazon.

To confirm which account type you have:

  • Individual Seller Account

    • No monthly subscription fee

    • $0.99 fee per item sold

    • Cannot be paired with ScoutIQ

  • Professional Seller Account

    • $39.99 monthly subscription fee

    • Designed for sellers planning to sell more than 40 items per month

    • Required to pair with ScoutIQ

Pairing Directly from the ScoutIQ 2 App (Optional)

If you are using ScoutIQ 2, you can also pair your Amazon account directly from the mobile app. A computer is not required.

This option is:

  • Available for ScoutIQ 2 only

  • Optional if you prefer pairing from the app instead of the Hub

Follow the interactive walkthrough below to pair from the ScoutIQ 2 app:

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

The guidance below applies whether you paired from the Threecolts Hub or directly from the ScoutIQ 2 app.

Integration Status Shows “Pending”

If your Current Integration Status or Amazon Restriction Checks display as “Pending,” this is usually because:

  • Your Professional Seller account is newly created, or

  • You recently upgraded from an Individual to a Professional account

Amazon may take several hours or up to a few days to approve credentials.

Recommended steps:

  1. Wait 1 to 3 days

  2. Attempt to connect again

  3. If the status remains pending after one week, contact Amazon Seller Central Support

Permission Error Message

If you receive the following error:

“You are not permitted to take this action. You must be the primary user of a Professional selling account to take advantage of apps.”

This indicates that your account is still an Individual Seller account. Individual accounts cannot authorize third-party applications. You may upgrade to a Professional Seller account using the link provided in the error message if you choose.

What if Personalized Restriction Checks Stop Appearing?

This usually means Amazon permissions have expired.

To reauthorize:

  1. Go to Amazon Seller Central
    https://sellercentral.amazon.com/apps/manage

  2. Locate ScoutIQ in the list of apps

  3. Click Re-Authorize

Your connection will be restored for another year.
